Valerie Reed, ARNP
Founder, Owner, and Care Provider

Valerie Reed, ARNP, is an Adult Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of nursing experience, including over 20 years in advanced practice. Her early RN career included acute and chronic hemodialysis, therapeutic plasmapheresis, and coronary care unit (CCU) practice.

Her clinical background includes hospitalist medicine, pulmonary and critical care, nephrology, mental health, pain management, dementia care and behavioral symptoms associated with neurocognitive disorders and primary care with a focus on complex acute and chronic disease management.

Valerie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2000 from Kent State University.   She has been board-certified in Adult Health by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) since 2000.

Over the course of her career she has practiced in Ohio, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, and New York. She is now based on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula and is the founder and owner of Zivena Health.

Her practice focuses on providing primary and problem-focused medical care for adults residing in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and adult family homes, as well as virtual consultations for adults seeking primary care or medical consultation.  She has extensive experience managing medically complex patients in post-acute and long-term care settings, with an emphasis on stabilizing chronic conditions and reducing avoidable hospital transfers whenever possible.

Her approach emphasizes evidence-informed, individualized care that integrates lifestyle strategies, non-opioid therapies, and conventional pharmacologic treatment. When clinically appropriate, pain management may include carefully monitored opioid therapy in accordance with state regulations and current prescribing guidelines. She also provides medical cannabis authorizations when appropriate under Washington State law.

Outside of her clinical work, Valerie enjoys exploring the Olympic Peninsula’s mountains and beaches, backcountry hiking, wildlife observation, and staying active. She is also a retired marathon runner.
